The Caribbean Sea
Scattered moderate convection remains in the Gulf of Honduras,
otherwise dry air is supporting fair weather conditions over the
basin. A pressure gradient between lower pressure over Colombia
and a surface high pressure over the central Atlantic extending
into the northern Caribbean continues to support fresh to strong
winds over the south-central basin with seas to 9 ft and moderate
to locally fresh SE winds in the Gulf of Honduras. Moderate trade
winds with seas to 7 ft are elsewhere.
The ridge N of the area will shift east ahead of a weak front
moving through the Gulf allowing trade winds to increase over
mainly the south central Caribbean through mid week. Looking
ahead, the trade winds will diminish by late week as the high
pressure shifts eastward, although fresh to strong winds will
persist off Colombia.
An Ashfall Advisory is in effect for La Soufriere volcano on the
island of St. Vincent.
A combination of dust from the Sahara and sulfur dioxide from the La Soufriere volcano eruption is reaching Venezuela, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, Central America and South Florida. These combinations will remain for several days in the Caribbean countries and will probably be arriving in Central America after April 20. Extreme precautions are recommended for allergy sufferers and the general public.

On Ambergris Caye last night we received a much needed rain. This morning the sky is clear and we have a SW breeze at 9 mph. Today's expected high temperature is 89 f.
WOW! the birds are hanging out this morning on the driftwood!
That very active front is still active over the Gulf and across central Florida, and a bit in western Guatamala. The winds over Belize are from the WSW with some mid-level and some high level clouds, but sunny through all that.
Looks as if today will be a mixture of sun and cloud, there could be more swellups this afternoon.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 24°C 75°F 35°C 95°F Yesterday Rain 5.6 mm ( 0.2")

Yesterday, for the first time ever, I hitchhiked on the island! I write about picking up hitchhikers in my book...and how it's such a great way to meet people who live here and just do a nice favor but yesterday...our golf cart wouldn't start and I NEEDED to get a ride.
A lovely family of three picked me up - THANK YOU. Success!
There was a police checkpoint - checking drivers' licenses and registrations and mandatory mask-wearing - and a HUGE line-up. Due to the all-day planned power outage, EVERYONE had spent the day at Secret Beach or up north...
There was a good deal of grumbling and the wait was...10 to 15 mins?
Present Condition: Partly cloudy, mostly in the west and south of Belize City. Mostly clear in San Pedro. Relatively moist and unstable conditions prevail over the area.
24hr Forecast: Sunny with some cloudy spells during the daytime and partly cloudy tonight. Showers will be generally isolated with the chance for isolated thunderstorms.
Outlook: Similar conditions are expected for Tuesday afternoon through midday Wednesday.
