Honourable Andre Perez and island authorities meet with stakeholders to chart a way forward leading to the re-opening of land borders

On Tuesday, April 20th, 2021, Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation and Belize Rural South Representative Hon. Andre Perez held a community meeting at Mahogany Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to engage governmental departments, the tourism, and private sector in discussions on the challenges of COVID 19 measures on tourism and other sectors of the community as well as preparations for the re-opening of the borders. Among the participants were the 10 governmental departments including the Police, Immigration, BAHA, Health, NEMO and Coast Guard among others. The interactive session which was chaired by CEO of the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation provided an opportunity for the participants to voice their concerns. An important outcome of the session was the establishment of a community task force which will be meeting to develop a framework for action to address key issues in San Pedro as well as Caye Caulker. Present at the meeting were Mayor Wally Nunez and Chairlady of the Caye Caulker Village Council, Seleni Pott.
