Today makes eight days that the BNTU has been on strike - and today also marks the final day of the PSU's notice of strike action - which means their strike should start tomorrow. And while there are expectations of ramped up industrial action from the public officers, reports are that they're going back to the negotiation table with the government tomorrow to resume negotiations.
But whether or not the strike goes through for the PSU, the nurses have announced their own plan for industrial action. While they will not go on a full strike, starting Wednesday, they will be on a go-slow.
Those that fall under the Nurses Association have been advised that this will be staged in every hospital across the country. This is the first time that the association will demonstrate in this way, but they are encouraging all their members to participate.
A post on their Facebook page says, quote, "We intend to stay the course until every nurse penalized for defending our right to protest is clear of such persecution." End quote.
