Sargassum Forecast from May 11 to May 19:
Satellite imagery continue to show an abundance of Sargassum over the northwest Caribbean Sea. It is very likely that some of these mats could make their way to coastal areas, especially over central and northern parts of the country. San Pedro has a high probability and a major impact.
Tropical Weather Outlook:
There are no organized tropical features across the Atlantic basin at this time. Updates will resume at the beginning of the 2021 hurricane season (June 1).

The Caribbean Sea
The monsoon trough passes through Colombia near 11N74W, through
eastern Panama and into the eastern Pacific Ocean. Fair and stable
weather generally prevails across the basin this morning, as
subsiding air associated with an upper level trough extends from
the NE Caribbean to the coast of Honduras. Fresh to strong
tradewinds prevail across south central portions of the basin
south of 15N, with winds to near 30 kt off the coast of Colombia.
Moderate trades prevail elsewhere across the basin, except light
to gentle winds across NW portions.
The Atlc high pressure ridge extends W-SW to the central Bahamas
and will support fresh to strong trade winds in the south-central
Caribbean through early Sat. Winds and seas will gradually
diminish late Sat and Sun as the high pressure shifts eastward and
weakens. Looking ahead, trade winds will increase across the
south-central Caribbean Mon and Tue as high pressure builds across
the W Atlc.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has stated in its report Thursday that we are currently in neutral conditions, i.e. there are no anomalies. No phenomenon of The Girl, no phenomenon of El Nino.
It should be noted, that like La Niña, Neutral conditions favor cyclone formation, that is, the trend toward a fairly active cyclone season remains.
On the other hand, a resurgence of La Niña phenomenon is expected to be revived at the peak of the cyclonic season, also increasing the chances of greater cyclonic training.

On Ambergris Caye this morning we have a wind from the East at 14 mph and a calm sea condition around our barrier reef. Currenty we have a sprinkling of rain. Today's expected high temperature is 88 f.
The easterly Caribbean winds and clouds are being slightly pushed down by some air from the north, that has been causing a lot of high level winds to produce a lot of clouds and swellups, over Southern Mexico and parts of the Yucatan and occasionally elsewhere, such as out in the Caribbean this morning.
Looks as if today will be very similar to yesterday, sunny, with significant clouds, and with the chance of some swellups anywhere at any time, more likely along the western border.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 24°C 74°F Yesterday max. 33°C 91°F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0")
Present Condition: Partly cloudy. Mostly sunny in San Pedro, a few clouds out over the sea. Conditions are relatively moist over our area.
24hr Forecast: Sunny with some cloudy spells during the daytime and partly cloudy tonight. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms will occur around the country this afternoon, and then mostly over the south tonight and tomorrow morning.
Outlook: For Saturday afternoon through to midday on Sunday is for generally fair weather to prevail, with isolated showers.
