Central and local government officials meet with stakeholders to address police issues affecting island tourism

On May 18th 2021, Mayor Wally Nunez and the San Pedro Town Council attended a meeting chaired by the chairman of BTB's board of directors, Mr. Evan Tillett. Several tourism stake holders were present and they discussed critical challenges that they are facing in the tourism industry. The main point of the meeting was to agree on a balanced approach to policing and the adhering of safety protocols by visitors and residents alike when visiting the island.

Present at the meeting were Hon. Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries; Hon. Andre Perez, Minister of the Blue Economy and Civil Aviation; Mr. Wally Nunez, Mayor of San Pedro Town; Mr. Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police; Dr Richard Rosado, Assistant Commissioner of Police; Superintendent Christopher Noble, Commander of Region Four; Mr. Basil Reyes Assistant Superintendent of Police; and Alison McLaughlin, Commander of the Tourism Police Unit.
