The Caribbean Sea
There are several tropical waves affecting the basin.
In addition to the convection mentioned in the tropical waves
section, scattered showers and tstorms are seen in between
Jamaica and eastern Cuba, and also along the coast of Nicaragua.
Moderate trade winds prevail across the much of the basin, locally
fresh in the south-central Caribbean. Gentle winds are in the NW
Caribbean as well as the SW Caribbean, north of Panama. Seas are
4-6 ft across the eastern and central Caribbean, 2-4 ft in the NW
Caribbean and 3-5 ft in the Gulf of Honduras.
Gentle to moderate trade winds will prevail today across the
basin. Scattered showers and tstms are expected over the SW
Caribbean through the remainder of this week in association with a
broad trough of low pressure. Winds will increase to fresh in the
south-central Caribbean Fri night as high pressure ridging
becomes re-established along 25N over the west Atlantic. Fresh
winds will then continue over the central Caribbean through Mon. A
weak tropical wave will enter the SE Caribbean today, enhancing
showers. The next tropical wave will reach the E Caribbean on Mon.
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
There are currently no organized tropical features in the Atlantic basin, and none are expected to develop through at least the next couple of days. These quieter conditions may not last much longer.
A broad area of rotation in the midlevels, sometimes called a gyre, is developing near Central America and the nearby waters of the eastern Pacific Ocean. This gyre is causing an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity across Central America into southern Mexico. With wind shear remaining rather low across the western Caribbean Sea and the southwest Gulf of Mexico, it's still possible that an area of low pressure can develop under this gyre over the next few days. However, with the gyre developing a bit farther to the west, chances for tropical development in the Atlantic basin remain quite low.
All interests in Central America and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico should be prepared for flooding downpours and some gusty winds through the weekend, regardless of whether or not a tropical system forms.

Cyclonic develoopment odds in the South Caribbean have been reduced.
The National Hurricane Center in its latest analysis reduced to zero the probability of cyclone formation to the system found in the South Caribbean due to interaction with land.
Still, a large low pressure system has developed and will continue to cause heavy rain over the next few days in that area, from North Colombia to part of Central America.

On Ambergris Caye this morning we have a wind from the East at 13 mph. The Island is getting some relief from its long dry period with a little rain. Today's expected high temperature is set at 86 f.
The whole of north Central America and southern Mexico are covered by a lot of high level clouds, generally from the WSW, with a lot of rain around, oddly caused by a bubble or front of Caribbean weather that pushed over the Yucatan last night. This morning, our area is covered by thin high level cloud, presently only clashing along the south border, but is helping a few scattered showers in other places.
Looks like this high cloud will be with us most of the day, there will be some sun patches, but there could also be some rain patches later.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 24°C 75°F Yesterday max. 33°C 91°F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0")

Present Condition: Mostly cloudy on the mainland, much less so in the atolls. Clear and windy in San Pedro. Conditions have become moist and unstable over the area. Flood watch: There is the possibility for flooding to occur in low-lying and flood prone areas and especially over the southern districts.
24hr Forecast: Skies will become cloudy at times with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms occurring around the country this afternoon. Activity will increase over the south tonight and spread to most places by morning with a slight decrease by midday.
Outlook: A few showers and thunderstorms will occur mostly over inland areas Friday afternoon, then spread to most places but especially over the south, during Friday night into Saturday morning.
A huge cloud of Saharan Dust from Africa is moving across the Atlantic and has reached South America, as forecast by Copernicus ECMWF and detected 9 June by the Sentinel 5p satellite.
Saharan dust plumes can cause health issues but they also support the biodiversity of the Atlantic Ocean islands & of the Amazon Rainforest, as they transport unique nutrients.
