San Pedro, Ambergris Caye
I took a birthday trip to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. This trip was long in the making, and it was a lot of fun. This is part one, and part two is coming next week. In this video, you'll see that I visited several restaurants, and we went to the popular beach spot, Secret Beach. We took a boat to San Pedro on San Pedro Belie Express, one of the two major boat ferries we have. The ride was about 1 hr 15 minutes. We left at noon and arrived at 1:15. However, this was a shorter ride because our boat didn't stop at Caye Caulker as it would usually do. If it did, we would have taken about 15 to 20 more minutes to arrive. A roundtrip ticket to San Pedro is $60. The price went up due to the pandemic. We stayed at Laguna Hotel. It was a nice place to stay. Pretty comfy and affordable if you're on a budget. It's right before the bridge that connects North and south San Pedro and one block away from the beach. There are stores nearby and restaurants within walking distance. A plus is that they have a golf cart rental attached to the hotel, so I didn't have to worry about booking a rental separately. They also picked us up from the boat ferry and dropped us off at the end of our stay. A golf cart is the best way to move about on the island, and cart rentals on the island are roughly $50 per day.

In this video, we ate at the following places:
Sandy Toes: it's right on the beachfront. A very chill place to be, and the food and service was good!

Blue Water Grill: located on the beachfront. We took a while to find the place. You have to park on Main Street. It's a dead-end and then walk to the beachfront. It was NOISY because they had a large group there that was drunkenly celebrating lol, but the food was delicious.

D'Family Cafe: right off the main and a stone throw away from the beach. They have lots of signs to direct you there so you should not get lost. That was such a cute place! Their breakfast was perfect! The wait time for the food wasn't long either.

Pirate's Not So Secret Beach Bar N Grill: This is on Secret Beach, which is a 20 to 30 minutes drive away from where we stayed! Golf carts don't go fast either, so hold tight for a long drive lol. The prices here were pretty high compared to other restaurants on the island. Only here we got menus with prices in Belize and US dollars. So make sure you take extra cash or have your card ready. Their drinks and food were delicious! We had their bbq wings, and it was the bomb! We got two plates!

Later that night, we had chicken and waffles, but I was so hungry and tired I didn't get to include a video! Nevertheless, if you go to San Pedro and want chicken and waffles, make sure you buy it from the guy beside the Fire station. He only sells in the evening time, and they go fast! $10 a plate! The chicken was crispy, spicy and fresh! You also get soft waffles with syrup and ketchup! It was amazing!

Usually, you would be able to access the beach anywhere and swim; however, there is a sargassum issue and it's taking over our beaches all over the country. Therefore, people on the island go to Secret Beach where the beach and water are perfect for swimming and sargassum free! Tune in again next week to see the final two days of the trip and get more ideas of what you can do.
