Present Condition: Mostly cloudy skies this morning, especially in the north. Cloudy and windy in San Pedro. Drier conditions setttling in over the area.
Advisories: Operators of small crafts are advised to exercise caution for gusty winds and locally rough seas near heavy showers and thunderstorms. There is the possibility for flooding over low-lying and flood prone areas, especially in central and northern coastal areas.
Cloudy at times with a few showers, isolated thunderstorms and periods of rain lingering over central and northern areas this morning, decreasing and becoming isolated by afternoon.

At 3:00 am, newly formed Tropical Storm Elsa was located near latitude 9.4, longitude 48.8W, or about 865 miles ESE of the Windward Islands. This disturbance was moving to the west at 25mph with maximum sustained winds of 40mph.

upgraded Tropical Storm Elsa is moving west toward the Windward
Fresh winds prevail over much of the Caribbean, with the exception
of gentle winds near Cuba and locally strong winds S of Puerto
Rico in association with a tropical wave. Seas are in the 6-9 ft
range in the central Caribbean, 4-7 ft in the eastern Caribbean,
and 3-5 ft in the western Caribbean.
For the forecast, the tropical wave in the far eastern Caribbean
will move quickly into the central basin later this week. Locally
heavy rainfall and reduced visibility will occur in its vicinity.
Newly upgraded Tropical Storm Elsa is near 9.4N 48.8W 1006 mb at
5 AM EDT moving W at 22 kt. Maximum sustained winds are 35 kt with
gusts to 45 kt. Elsa will move to 10.3N 52.0W this afternoon,
11.7N 56.7W Fri morning, 13.2N 61.8W Fri afternoon, 14.9N 66.9W
Sat morning, 16.7N 71.2W Sat afternoon, and 18.0N 74.5W Sun
morning. Elsa will remain a tropical storm through the weekend,
and may move near Cuba or the far southeast Gulf early Mon.

At 5 a.m. AST, the center of now Tropical Storm Elsa was located about 865 miles (1390 km) east-southeast of the Windward Islands. Elsa is moving toward the west near 25 mph (41 km/h). An even faster motion to the west-northwest is expected over the next 24 to 36 hours. On the forecast track, the system will pass near or over portions of the Windward Islands or the southern Leeward Islands on Friday, move into the eastern Caribbean Sea late Friday and Friday night, and move near the southern coast of Hispaniola on Saturday.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km) from the center. Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days.
Elsa is expected to produce rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches with maximum totals of 8 inches on Friday across the Windward and southern Leeward Islands, including Barbados. This rain may lead to isolated flash flooding and mudslides.

There has been a massive amount of high cloud coming down from the NW and a clashing line over much of eastern Belize causing a lot of over night and early morning rain lightning, but this is now all dying out.
Looks as if today will be mainly cloudy, but getting brighter, perhaps even the odd sunshine patches, a small chance of some more rain showers.

On the forecast track, Elsa will pass near or over portions of the Windward Islands or the southern Leeward Islands on Friday, move into the eastern Caribbean Sea late Friday and Friday night, and move near the southern coast of Hispaniola on Saturday. By early Sunday, Elsa is forecast to move near portions of eastern Cuba.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
