Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
Strong to near-gale force trade winds and 8 to 12 ft seas are
noted across much of the central Caribbean, between high pressure
north of the area and lower pressure over Colombia and western
Venezuela. A scatterometer satellite pass showed another area of
fresh to strong winds in the Gulf of Honduras. Earlier altimeter
satellite data indicated seas were possibly reaching 8 ft over the
Gulf of Honduras, although this may be subsiding. Moderate to
fresh easterly winds are noted elsewhere, with 5 to 7 ft seas in
the eastern Caribbean and 4 to 6 ft seas in the northwest
Caribbean. A sharp upper trough reaches from over Haiti southward
toward Panama. Associated divergent flow aloft along with
convergent trade wind flow in the lower levels is supporting
scattered showers and thunderstorms over the far southwest
Caribbean from the coast of Colombia to southeast Nicaragua.
For the forecast, high pressure centered north of the area
combined with the Colombian low will support strong to
occasionally near gale force trade winds over the south-central
Caribbean through mid week. Strong trades in the Gulf of Honduras
will diminish Sun, but fresh trades will pulse nightly through the
middle of next week.

Saharan dust is reaching greater concentrations in the area of the Yucatán Peninsula. Sahara dust continues to move across the Atlantic and the Caribbean and that's why in part of the Caribbean, Central America, and part of Mexico, (southeast) the chances of rain have decreased. Sahara dust decreases the chances of rain and inhibits the formation of tropical cyclones as temperatures increase, although over the next days the passage of tropical waves will generate clouds and formation of electric storms in some parts. The picture is for Saturday, where the dust of the Sahara will arrive over part of northeast, eastern Mexico this weekend The presence of Sahara dust will remain over the Caribbean, Central America, and part of Mexico at least until mid next week, then will gradually decrease.. ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/216957114_372818124262942_1356156441158338359_n.jpg)

The eastern Caribbean winds control the area, but they do have some large patches of heavier clouds. Some have been causing rain in many parts of Belize this morning and still a few rain showers around but reducing. Looks like today will be largely sunny, but with significant clouds and still the chance of a few rain showers around. Temperatures in Belmopan : (Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler) Last Night 25°C 76°F Yesterday max. 32°C 89°F Yesterday Rain 3.0 mm (0.1") Over 5.7 mm (0.22")
