Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

An earlier scatterometer satellite pass indicated near-gale force winds across the Gulf of Venezuela, and a large area of fresh to strong tradewinds elsewhere across the southeast and south-central parts of the basin. Seas in these areas are estimated to be 8 to 11 ft. The enhanced wind flow is occurring as high pressure builds in the wake of the tropical wave moving across the basin. Fresh to strong NE winds are evident along the Windward Passage, with seas likely reaching 8 ft near the northern entrance to the Passage. The scatterometer pass also showed fresh to locally strong E winds off eastern Honduras and northeast Nicaragua, just ahead of the wave axis. The convergent wind flow was supporting scattered showers and thunderstorms in this same area as well. A few thunderstorms are active across the Corn Islands of Nicaragua, ahead of the tropical wave. Farther south, the interaction of the tropical wave with the monsoon trough is supporting a cluster of strong thunderstorms over the Gulf of Uraba along western part of the Caribbean coast of Colombia.

For the forecast, the tropical wave from central Cuba to central Panama will move west of the basin by tonight into early Wed. High pressure centered north of the region will continue to support strong to near- gale force tradewinds and building seas into Wed over the central Caribbean, including strong nocturnal NE winds across the Windward Passage tonight into Wed. Winds and seas will diminish Wed through Fri. Looking ahead, tradewinds and related seas will increase over the south-central Caribbean and around the Leeward Islands Sat and Sat night as another tropical wave approaches the eastern Caribbean.

The rains will continue in the Dominican Republic as a result of a Tropical Wave and a Trailer, residents in vulnerable areas should take action.

On the north coast of Costa Rica, and part of the Panama border, rain will continue throughout that area and other places in the above mentioned territories, the result of a low pressure system moving over that area, some bands clouds will reach the Nicaragua border with Costa Rica.

On the southwestern coast of Mexico's territory, some cloud bands will penetrate the shores due to a low pressure system developing in that area, which could produce rain in that area.

Tropical wave crosses Central America and the south of the Yucatán Peninsula. Their influence will favor scattered rains in the region. Another tropical wave is coming from the Central Caribbean.

Crown Weather:

No Tropical Development Anticipated Across The Atlantic, Caribbean & Gulf Of Mexico Through The Rest Of This Week & Probably Through Next Week As Well

The Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico are quiet today with no other areas of interest. It appears that no tropical development is expected across the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico throughout the rest of this week and likely through next week. In fact, it is possible that we may not see any other tropical systems develop until about the very end of this month or during the first part of August or so. The background state of the atmosphere is unfavorable for tropical development and any tropical disturbances that are out there have to work extremely hard to develop into tropical depressions and tropical storms and most times they don’t.

With that said, the tropical disturbances that are currently in the Atlantic right now are pretty convectively active, in spite of an atmosphere that isn’t really conducive for tropical development. One particular tropical wave is producing heavy thunderstorm activity over the western Caribbean and this wave is likely to bring squally weather to the southern Yucatan Peninsula, Belize and parts of Honduras and Guatemala the rest of today into Wednesday.

Beyond the next couple of weeks, it appears that a new upward motion pulse of the Madden Julian Oscillation should enter the Atlantic Basin around either the very end of this month or during the first part of August. This upward motion pulse is then anticipated to remain in place across the Atlantic through much of the month of August. Once this occurs, I expect that tropical activity will ramp back up beginning around the very end of this month.

There was a huge swellup early this morning, covering much of the western Caribbean. Its front shock wave, crossed over Belize this morning causing some rain in many parts of Belize. The below Rain picture was for midnight, when their radar got stuck. There is more rain coming in later, which could effect any part of Belize, probably mainly the south.

Looks as if today will be mainly cloudy, with significant rain showers and areas during the day.

We are watching that same tropical wave we have tracked across the Caribbean Sea, and is now set to bring squally weather across all Central America countries including Belize, the Yucatan, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. Take precautions as needed to protect life and property. However, overall, enjoy the rain.

Present Condition: Cloudy skies throughout the country. A tropical wave is affecting all of Belize. The very active tropical wave is supporting showers and thunderstorms over the area. Flood watch: There is the possibility for flooding to occur over low-lying and flood prone areas.

24hr Forecast: Skies will become cloudy to overcast with outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms over most areas but especially over southern districts this afternoon and tonight, gradually decreasing tomorrow morning.

Outlook: For Wednesday afternoon to Thursday midday is for a few showers and isolated thunderstorms to continue over the south Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night. Elsewhere showers will be generally isolated.
