The latest COVID-19 infections across the country and in San Pedro Town continue to show a slow increase. With five new cases reported on Friday, July 16th, on the island, another islander was transported to Belize City via the Belize Emergency Response Team air ambulance for further medical attention.

The patient’s state was deemed critical and, after being stabilized, was transported off the island and joined the group of persons at the COVID-19 section of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City. Currently, there are eight COVID-19 related hospitalizations. Two San Pedranos were admitted last week. They continue to recover after their state was reported critical. While on the island, unofficial reports indicate that there are 30 to 40 active cases.

Free vaccines are offered from Monday to Thursday from 1-3:30PM and on Fridays from 8-12noon at the Lions Den. The vaccination process can take less than an hour.
