Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
A Gale Warning is in effect for the south-central Caribbean.
The most recent scatterometer data depict fresh to strong trades
prevailing across most of the central Caribbean with seas of 8-10
ft. Elsewhere in the basin, moderate to fresh trades prevail with
5-8 ft seas, except in the NW Caribbean where trades are gentle
to moderate with 2-4 ft seas.
For the forecast, fresh to strong E winds over the central
Caribbean will prevail through the end of the week. These winds will
reach as far north as Hispaniola adjacent waters. Fresh NE winds
are expected in the Windward Passage through Thu night. Fresh to
strong winds are forecast to pulse in the Gulf of Honduras tonight
and Thu night with seas building to 6-7 ft.
Under the influence of this trade wind surge propagating across
the Caribbean, conditions appear fairly favorable for heavy
rainfall amounts over southern Central America over the next few
days. The onset of the activity is expected late tonight, and
will likely peak Thu through Sat. In fact, the GFS model suggests
abundant tropical moisture in a NE winds flow from Nicaragua to
Panama and western Colombia today.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
Tropical development is not anticipated through at least this weekend, mainly due to a broad area of Saharan dust over much of the Atlantic basin.
There are a few waves moving westward through the basin, but none of those waves show any signs of organizing.

Tropical wave over the Yucatan peninsula. Tropical Wave Passing over Belize; More Rains Expected this WeekendThe heavy rains Tuesday and on Sunday night are typical of the rainy season, but severe weather conditions during this time can put people in life-threatening situations. Chief Meteorologist Ronald Gordon says while Tuesday's heavy rains that caused a power failure in some areas is already history, there's more rain ahead. Ronald Gordon, Chief Meteorologist"It is being caused by a tropical wave and that wave - it's axis is already over Belize; however, we do have some, moisture lingering behind it and that is going to produce more showers and thunderstorms and lightning tonight, especially over the coastal and southern parts of the country into tomorrow. We expect improvements on Thursday through to Friday. And then another tropical wave will approach on Saturday. These occur periodically within the rainy season and every three to four days you have a tropical wave crossing and some are stronger than others and produce more thunderstorms and lightning as we saw today."Channel 5
