We just returned from another wonderful week on AC!
We stayed at Victoria House in a casita. Once again an excellent choice! The resort is the perfect size with excellent staff, beautiful grounds and pool. Hello to Stone and Tony! We were there last summer and the food was fine, but we believe the restaurant has really improved. Karlita, the chef, has settled in!
We did 8 dives with Rene and Jacinto Bradley and they are *the best*! Very knowledgable and safe. The canyons are breathtaking! We also had a great time fishing with George!
For those of you planning weddings-one took place at VH while we were there, very nice, around 5:00 in the grassy area between pool and casitas. The bride and groom seemed very pleased as we all watched from our verandas!

In addition to diving, we did LOTS of eating! Here were our favorites:
Mangos- great place for lunch-excellent seafood gumbo and sandwiches.
Sweet Basils-delicious seafood salad and chicken sandwich
Jambel Jerk Pit-always good and SPICY!
Mickey's- Go for burritos on Wednesday! It will be yoor breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Blue Water Grill- FANTASTIC! Delicious coconut shrimp sticks, lobster rolls and chocolate orgasm dessert! Ask for Carlos to be your waiter!* a real character* We ate there twice!
Capricorn-wonderful experience as usual. My husband really enjoyed his Surf and Turf and our other entrees were good as well- a fanatastic evening!
Papi's- also great local food, very fresh!
A big hello to Pedro the cab driver- he got us everywhere we needed to be!

Our only negative experince from our ENTIRE trip was when we decided to rent wave runners at the Fido's dock.
They were EXTREMELY rude, accusing us of breaking all kinds of rules (we were being very safe and responsible)Their parasail boat chased me down and scared the you know what out of me, screaming and yelling! What a temper that guy had!
From the owners yelling- we understood they had had accidents in the past and do not like having the liability. We respected that and had previously signed waivers, etc. Maybe they should not rent wave runners if they do not want the liability? Only a suggestion. We calmly defended ourselves and they decided NOT to fine us $300 U.S.

We will most certainly go back to AC and Victoria House and all the wonderful bars and restaurants but we will NOT go near the FIDO's Watersports Pier!
Thanks again to all at the VH for making our trip so wonderful! We hope to be back soon!

For fear of sounding stupid. Here it goes, The cab driver,Pedro, did you use him every time you went somewhere? If so, how did you get the same guy all the time? Did he just work VH or did you tell him to meet you at certain times and places? Just wondering.

Chloe, please do not say a thing.lol

Glad you had a great time, except for you Fido thing.Who was gonna fine you Fidos? or do they have some kind of Coast guard(I know, I know) patrol?

Jackie

We liked Pedro so much that we got his cell # and we carried it with us. After eating etc., We would hand the number to our waiter and they would call him for us! At the VH, when they would call a cab for us we would request Pedro.
The hot tempered person was the owner or manager at the Fidos watersport pier.

Redheada,
yes, we have pics. My husband has to get them downloaded. I will see if he wants to put a link on the message board. We just haven't had time to get it all organized.
A little more info on the wedding we saw-
The wedding party itself was very small(8 people) including immediate family and bridesmaid. The bride made her entrance from near the restaurant and her father escorted her to the lawn looking out onto the beach. The florist made an aisle out of native flowers and large beautiful conch shells, with chairs for the family set up on either side. They had another pretty arrangement on a small slip-covered table near the front. The bride wore a traditional gown. They had mariachis playing and the ceremony was short and sweet. Afterwards the family dined and celebrated outside. It was pretty. You will really like the staff at the hotel. They are so accomodating!Good luck with all of your plans!

Thanks Silly! That sounds perfect for us - we are very glad we switched our wedding from here to there - I am so looking forward to it. We have already picked 5pm - so the time seems good. Hoping it wont be too hot. We are expecting about 6 guests. Woo hoo.
