The Caribbean Sea

Three tropical waves are moving across the Caribbean supporting some localized shower activity. Aside from showers, two of these waves are supporting moderate to locally fresh trade winds across the eastern and central Caribbean with seas to 5 ft. See the tropical waves section for further details.

Gentle to moderate trade winds are expected through early Wed. The exception will be moderate to locally fresh winds near the coast of Colombia, and in the Gulf of Venezuela. Winds will increase across the E and central Caribbean Wed night through Fri as the Atlantic ridge builds westward in the wake of a trough moving westward across the Atlc waters north of the Greater Antilles.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

We continue to monitor a weak area of low pressure found near the coast of southeastern Georgia and South Carolina. While the chance for tropical development with this feature remains quite low, locally heavy rain will fall over portions of southeastern Georgia and eastern South Carolina over the next day or two and may cause some flooding.

Elsewhere, a few tropical waves continue to march westward across the basin. However, these waves are not expected to organize and develop into tropical systems through at least the end of the week due to the presence of dry, dusty air across the eastern portions of the basin and strong wind shear found over the Caribbean Sea.

The cloud in the Caribbean is still far away, but the easterly winds are just starting up again slowly. There is some cloud in the Caribbean winds and a line of cloud down south, presently over the sea.

Today
Looks as if it will be mainly sunshine, clouds developing later, but probably little or no rain

Tonight
Probably very similar most of the day into the night.

Crown Weather:

No Tropical Development Is Expected Across The Atlantic, Caribbean & Gulf Of Mexico The Rest Of This Week

All is relatively quiet across the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico today with no tropical development expected throughout the rest of this week.

My Thinking Is That we will see the Atlantic Basin start ramping up in activity beginning between about August 10 and August 20 with active to very active tropical storm and hurricane activity lasting until at least September 10 to 20.

Present Condition: Mostly clear throughout the country. Sunny and windy in San Pedro. Fair weather prevailing, then the passage of tropical wave will bring changes to our weather over the next 12 to 24hrs.

24hr Forecast: Today skies will be mostly sunny. Tonight skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy. Showers or thunderstorms will be generally isolated this afternoon and tonight. Tomorrow expect an increase in showers and thunderstorms and these will be associated with the approach and passage of a tropical wave.

Outlook: Is for cloudy skies with outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night, followed by a decrease on Thursday morning.

Tropical wave no. 17 is becoming very active. Strong convection is observed in the Caribbean associated with the system and vertical cuts show good organization to higher levels.
