Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

There are two tropical waves in the Atlantic, and three in the Caribbean.

Convergent trade winds behind the tropical wave along 87W are producing scattered strong convection over the western basin, and into coastal Honduras and Nicaragua. Refer to the Tropical Wave section above for more information on additional convection. Dry stable low level air and generally fair weather prevails to the east of this area. Gentle to moderate trades S of the Atlantic ridge dominate the entire Caribbean basin. Seas of 2 to 4 ft are present over the W basin, and 3 to 5 ft are found over the central and E basin, except to 6 ft off the NW coast of Colombia.

Gentle to moderate trade winds are expected across the basin through Thu. The exception will be moderate to locally fresh winds near the coast of Colombia, in the Gulf of Venezuela and Gulf of Honduras, and S coast of Hispaniola. Winds will begin to increase across the E and central Caribbean Wed night through Thu night, then persist through the weekend, as the Atlantic ridge builds westward in the wake of a trough moving westward across the Atlc waters north of the Greater Antilles.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

There are currently no organized tropical systems found across the basin at this time. A few tropical waves continue to cross the basin; however, these waves are not expected to organize and develop into tropical systems through at least the end of the week due to the presence of dry, dusty air across the eastern portions of the basin and strong wind shear found over the Caribbean Sea.

I mentioned clouds coming in from the Caribbean a couple of days ago and coming up from Honduras, well they were moving slow yesterday, but they have moved in rapidly over night. Or actually a sort of high level front has moved up from the south from Honduras and resulting in clashing with the easterly Caribbean winds. So that activity is still out at sea, But it has triggered thunderstorms and heavy cloud up most of Belize, which actually only caused some patches of rain.

Today
Looks as if it will be cloudy for much of the day, with some areas of rain, small areas could be heavy, presently mainly in the south and central areas.

Tonight
Weather changing rapidly, hard to tell even for tonight.

And so the rain on and off continues. The high level is now pushing down from the north, and will probably continue most of the day, with many areas of rain. on and off.
