Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
There are three tropical waves in the Atlantic, and one in the Caribbean.
Scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is noted in the
SW Caribbean near the monsoon trough, S of 12N between 74W and

thunderstorms are also noted in the western Gulf of Honduras.
Fresh to strong trade winds are still continuing across the
central Caribbean with gentle to moderate trades elsewhere. North

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
There are currently no organized tropical systems found across the basin at this time and none are expected to develop through at least early this week. Dry, dusty air continues to dominate the open Atlantic and no significant features support any development in the Gulf of Mexico or Caribbean.
While the entire basin remains quite tranquil for now, tropical waves coming off the African coast are starting to clear away some of the dry, dusty air and provide a boost of tropical moisture to the main developmental region of the basin. This trend is expected to continue into the middle of August, with the chances for tropical development increasing as a result during that time. In fact, some computer guidance suggests a tropical wave near the Cabo Verde Islands will have a small chance to become better organized later this weekend or early next week.

There are a couple of lines of Caribbean cloud with rain moving in from the east, aggravated by high level patches of cloud from the north. The result is many rain shower patches in many places this morning, this will probably reduce a bit during the day. Today Today has started off with very many rain showers in many places and is likely to continue on and off for much of the day, so there will be a mixture of rain, sunshine and cloud, changing rapidly. Tonight Probably continuing into the night. Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 25°C 76°F Yesterday max. 32°C 89°F Yesterday Rain 6.8 mm (.3") Over Night Rain 15 mm (0.6")

Crown Weather:Activity remains quiet for now across the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico and no tropical development is expected throughout this week. With that said, there are rumblings in the model guidance that activity will begin to increase as soon as this weekend and next week. My thinking ts that we will see the Atlantic Basin start ramping up in activity beginning between about August 10 and August 20 with active to very active tropical storm and hurricane activity lasting until at least September 10 to 20. The upper level weather pattern for the mid-August to mid-September time period continues to look very ominous with guidance showing a large high pressure system from the Great Lakes into the northeastern United States. This is the type of weather pattern that leads to tropical systems to head westward and not curve out into the open Atlantic. There are three areas I’m most concerned about in terms of threat areas – The first is the islands of the eastern and northeastern Caribbean; the second is the northern and eastern US Gulf Coast; the third is the entire East Coast of the United States and the Bahamas where the pattern looks favorable for a tropical system to try to run up the US East Coast.
