Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

There are three tropical waves in the Atlantic, and one in the Caribbean.

A broad upper-level low is supporting scattered showers between Cuba and Jamaica, and the Windward Passage. Scattered showers associated with the East Pacific Monsoon Trough is noted inland over N Colombia. The pressure gradient in the south-central Caribbean has evidently weakened, as the latest scatterometer and surface data depict moderate to fresh trades in this area. Elsewhere in the basin, trades are gentle to moderate. Seas throughout the Caribbean are 3-5 ft.

For the forecast, the Bermuda high combined with lower pressures over northern Colombia will support pulsing fresh to locally strong winds over the south-central Caribbean through the end of the week. Expect fresh E to SE winds in the Gulf of Honduras on Friday evening. Gentle to moderate trades will prevail elsewhere.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

As of Wednesday morning, EDT, there are currently no organized tropical systems found across the basin, and none are expected to develop through at least the next couple of days. That said, an area of disturbed weather just to the south and southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands does merit some attention.

An elongated midlevel low is evident in satellite imagery across the area with a trough of low pressure at the surface. There is now evidence that a low-level center may be trying to develop across the eastern portion of this trough, but this feature shouldn't organize into a tropical depression.

However, conditions may be a little more supportive for development later this week as a robust wave exits the African coast sometime Thursday or Thursday night. The environment in the vicinity of the Cabo Verde Islands, particularly south of the Islands, will be a little more favorable with a better moisture profile.

Elsewhere in the Atlantic, development prospects remain severely limited by very dry air and prohibitively strong wind shear.

Much of the western Caribbean and Yucatan are presently clear of significant cloud. There is some fast high level winds from the north over Jamaica, but not affecting us. Presently, not much cloud in the easterly Caribbean winds.

Today
Looks as if today will be mainly sunng, but with some clouds developing this morning, probably little or no rain today

Tonight
Probably fairly clear into the night.
