General Situation:
Ambergris Caye: Conditions this morning by Elbert just before or after this post!
Belize NMS: Present Condition: Mostly clear this morning, a few clouds in the south. Mostly clear in San Pedro. Fair weather prevailing.
Advisories: None.
24-hour forecast: Mostly sunny skies today and partly cloudy tonight. Showers will be generally isolated. Expect inland afternoon thunderstorms.

Waves: 1-3 ft
Sea Surface Temperature (°f): 86
Outlook: For Saturday and Saturday night is for partly cloudy skies with isolated showers or isolated thunderstorms developing.
Sargassum Forecast from August 12 to August 18: There is a high chance that additional sargassum mats will affect beaches across the country in the next few days. San Pedro has a high probability and a moderate impact.
Tropical Weather Outlook: At 9:00pm last night Tropical Depression Fred was located near latitude 21.5N, longitude 75.6W, or about 200 miles southeast of Southern Andros Island, Bahamas. Also, an area of low pressure is located about 1100mls east of the Lesser Antilles. This system has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression by this weekend. Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

There are three tropical waves in the Atlantic, and one in the Caribbean.

Gentle to moderate trades and seas at 3 to 5 ft are seen across the central and E basin. Gentle trades and seas of 1 to 3 ft prevails for the rest of the basin.

For the forecast, Tropical Depression Fred near 21.5N 75.6W 1013 mb at 11 PM EDT is moving WNW at 8 kt. Maximum sustained winds 30 kt gusts 40 kt. Fred will strengthen to a tropical storm near 22.2N 77.1W Fri morning with maximum sustained winds 35 kt gust 45 kt, move to near 23.0N 79.0W Fri evening and across the rest of the Straits of Florida reaching the southeastern Gulf of Mexico by Sat evening. Numerous squalls and thunderstorms will spread westward across most of Cuba through, with some of this activity possibly reaching the far northwestern Caribbean Sea. Fresh to locally strong winds will persist across most the eastern and central Caribbean through Fri, becoming light to gentle during the weekend. Light to gentle breezes and slight seas will persist elsewhere. A tropical wave near 59W will cross the Lesser Antilles early Fri, then move across the eastern Caribbean through early Sat, the central Caribbean through late Sun and the western Caribbean early next week. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will accompany the wave. Low pressure located well east of the Lesser Antilles is pressure is expected to reach portions of the Leeward Islands late Sat or early Sun and the north-central Caribbean Mon as a possible tropical cyclone. Expect strong gusty winds along with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms with this system.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

At 5 a.m. EDT, the center of Tropical Depression Fred was located about 125 miles (200 km) south-southwest of Great Exuma Island, Bahamas, and 370 miles (595 km) east-southeast of Key West, Florida. Fred is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue today. A turn toward the northwest is expected tonight or Saturday. On the forecast track, Fred is expected to move along or just north of eastern and central Cuba through tonight, be near the Florida Keys on Saturday, and near the west coast of Florida on Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is expected during the next couple of days, and Fred could become a tropical storm again later today.

Presently, there is very little air movement in our whole area, light easterly Caribbean winds and traces of thing high level thin cloud from the east, but there is a slow clockwise circulation. No rain on the radar. There is storm activity over east Cuba, butt hat is expected to go up towards Florida.

Appears today will be mainly sunny, light winds, some clouds developing and a hot day, which is also our 2nd mid Summer, the Sun passing vertically overhead at midday.

Tonight
Probably a calm overnight, no rain.

Present Condition: Mostly clear throughout the country. Clear and sunny in San Pedro. Fair and warm conditions prevail over the area.

24hr Forecast: Mostly sunny this afternoon with the chance of an isolated thunderstorm developing inland. Partly cloudy tonight and mostly sunny tomorrow morning with isolated showers or thunderstorms.

Outlook: For Saturday afternoon to Sunday midday is for generally fair weather except for isolated thunderstorms or showers inland Saturday afternoon and over the north Saturday night.

Flood Report and Forecast for today August 13, 2021

River Conditions

REGION 7 - Levels recorded today on the RIO HONDO at Blue Creek, Santa Cruz, San Antonio, San Roman and Douglas to the Coast are normal and falling. On the NEW RIVER levels are normal and falling at Tower Hill and Caledonia.

REGION 9 - On the MACAL RIVER, reservoir levels at all BECOL facilities remains below the spillways; and at San Ignacio, levels are below the low-level bridge and steady. Levels on the MOPAN RIVER at Benque Viejo Town is below normal and falling.

On the BELIZE RIVER, below normal and falling levels were recorded at Double Run. The CROOKED TREE LAGOON remains below the causeway and falling slowly.

REGION 11 - Levels recorded on the SIBUN RIVER at Freetown Sibun is normal and steady. Levels on the SOUTHERN LAGOON near Gales Point Village is near normal and steady. River levels in watersheds on the EASTERN SLOPES OF THE MAYAN MOUNTAINS is below normal and steady. The SITTEE RIVER at Kendal Bridge is near normal and falling. The Swasey and Bladen branches of the MONKEY RIVER is above normal and decreasing slowly. Levels on the DEEP RIVER at Medina Bank is below normal and slowly falling. On the RIO GRANDE at San Pedro Columbia, levels are normal and slowly falling; and at Big Falls South, levels are above normal and falling slowly. On the MOHO RIVER, levels at Blue Creek South are now normal and steady; and at Jordan, levels are above normal and slowly falling. Levels recorded on the TEMASH RIVER at Crique Sarco is above normal and falling slowly.

REGION 13 - On the SARSTOON RIVER, levels are above normal and steady.

FLOOD FORECAST
