As part of its strategic marketing efforts to heighten consideration and awareness for Belize, highlighting wellness tourism, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) secured an opportunity to collaborate with the Empire State Building in celebration of National Wellness Month.
In this regard, Belize today hosted an intimate sunrise, skyline yoga session, led by two Belizean instructors, atop the 86th observatory deck of the Empire State Building, which is the most iconic, globally-recognized landmark in New York City.
The exclusive, ticket-only wellness event incorporated the cultural nuances of our Maya heritage and created an immersive environment for avid yoga and golden hour enthusiasts by replicating Belize's natural aesthetic via a vibrant backdrop, tropical greenery and Caribbean music.
At the end of the experience, the BTB surprised seven lucky participants with stays at luxurious resorts in Belize including Naia Resort & Spa, Victoria House Resort & Spa, Ramon's Village Resort, Table Rock Jungle Lodge, Belize Boutique Resort & Spa, The Placencia Resort and Ka'ana Boutique Resort. Tropic Air Belize and the Belize Tourism Board will provide in-country transfers for the winners.
"Few things are more peaceful than the sunrise view from our 360-degree, open-air Observatory in the heart of New York City," said Jean-Yves Ghazi, President of the Empire State Building Observatory. "Our commitment to guest health and indoor environmental quality, which includes MERV 13 filters and active bi-polar ionization, aligns directly with the restorative practice of yoga. We are pleased to add this activity to our already popular Sunrise Experience ticket package, and to bring Belize to the World's Most Famous Building."
"It is an honor for our country to create a place of rest and respite for the people of New York during National Wellness Month, as many of us face challenges and stress," said Mr. Evan Tillet, Director of Tourism, who participated in this historic event. "This is a monumental partnership between the BTB and the Empire State Building and together we've developed a fun, holistic initiative that will spark joy and inspire visitors to explore the adventurous and soothing experiences the destination is known for."
The event, which was promoted in Times Square, included the participation of New York City-based media, influencers and the general public. It has already sparked media attention and coverage by Travel + Leisure and Forbes and will continue to produce digital exposure for Belize. In addition, following the yoga session, the BTB has secured media appointments with The Knot, Travel + Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler, Forbes, Galerie Magazine, FOX News, CNN Travel and the NewYork Post which will result in substantial media coverage and awareness for Belize.
