For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
Hurricane Ida is now in the southern Gulf of Mexico. Ida will continue to intensify over the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico and a period of rapid intensification will likely commence sometime Saturday into early Sunday. As such, Ida will become a major hurricane before making landfall along the coast of Louisiana later Sunday. Flooding rain and damaging winds will impact Cuba through Friday night. Flooding rainfall, damaging winds and a significant storm surge will target the central Gulf coast Sunday into Monday. All residents and interests from Louisiana through Alabama should be prepared for potentially significant effects from Ida, including prolonged power outages, destructive winds and major life-threatening flooding. Due to these expected impacts, Ida is a 4 on the AccuWeather RealImpact™ Scale for Hurricanes for the United States.
Meanwhile, Tropical Depression 10 has formed well east of the Leeward Islands. T.D. 10 is expected to drift northward over the next few days and not impact land. If T.D. 10 becomes a tropical storm, it will take the name of Julian.
Finally, we are also keeping an eye on low pressure a few hundred miles east of Bermuda that may develop over the next few days. There is also a tropical wave emerging off the western coast of Africa by the middle of next week that may develop and organize further.

Ida will continue to lift north of Cuba this morning bringing an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain with isolated maximum amounts of 6 inches across western Cuba through today. These rainfall amounts may produce flash floods and mudslides. As Ida moves into the Louisiana coast late Sunday, total rainfall accumulations of 8 to 16 inches with isolated maximum amounts of 20 inches are possible across southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi through Monday. This is likely to result in significant flash and riverine flooding impacts.
At 4 a.m. CDT, the center of Hurricane Ida was located over the Gulf of Mexico about 510 miles (825 km) southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana. Ida is moving toward the northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h) and this general motion should continue through late Sunday or early Monday. A slower northward motion is forecast on Monday. On the forecast track, the center of Ida will move over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico today and over the north central Gulf of Mexico on Sunday. Ida is then expected to make landfall along the U.S. northern Gulf coast within the hurricane warning area by late Sunday or early Monday, then move through portions of Louisiana or western Mississippi later on Monday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 987 mb (29.15 inches). Rapid strengthening is forecast during the next 24 to 36 hours and Ida is expected to be an extremely dangerous major hurricane when it approaches the northern Gulf coast on Sunday. Weakening is expected after Ida makes landfall. The combination of a dangerous storm surge and the tide will cause normally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by rising waters moving inland from the shoreline.
NHC is issuing advisories on newly formed Tropical Depression Ten. At 5 a.m. AST, the center of the depression was located over the Atlantic Ocean about 820 miles (1320 km) east-southeast of the Leeward Islands. The depression is moving toward the north-northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h) and this motion is forecast to continue this morning. By this afternoon, the depression is forecast to move northward, and then maintain that general motion into early next week. On the forecast track, the system is expected to remain over the open Atlantic well to the east of the Lesser Antilles. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 mb (29.74 inches). Some slight strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm later today. The next name on the Atlantic list is "Julian".

Well HURRICANE IDA has crossed Cuba and heading for New Orleans. Very little weather effects from HURRICANE NORA in the Pacific, but the end result is very little or no air movement over Belize. There is a little rain out at sea under those heavier clouds. Today Cloud is building as a result of sunlight on the ground, heating the air above it, so it is rising up to the point it starts to condense into white puffy clouds. Some rain patches are presently only out at sea. Tonight Looks as if it will be a dry night. ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/belmopanwx210828.jpg) Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 26°C 78°F Yesterday max. 34°C 93°F Yesterday Rain 0.4 mm (0") Over Night Rain 0 mm (0")
