The northern portion of a tropical wave is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms over Honduras, the western Caribbean Sea, and portions of the Yucatan peninsula. This system is forecast to move into the Bay of Campeche and merge with a pre-existing surface trough located over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico by this weekend. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive to support gradual development, and a tropical depression is likely to form Sunday or Monday before the system moves onshore along the western Gulf of Mexico coast. Regardless of development, this disturbance is expected to produce heavy rains across portions of Central America through Saturday.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...40 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent.

On Ambergris Caye this morning we have gray skies after a night of rain. The sea state around our barrier reef is moderate. Today's expected high temperature is a cool 84f.

There has been a huge area of ITCZ swellups all over the eastern Yucatan and Caribbean, causing a lot of rain all over the area. There are still a few small swellups over northern Belize, but he rain has been moving up northwards.

Looks as if most of Belize will be very cloudy today, low level and high level cloud, most of the rain having eased up, except in the north which will continue with rain for the next few hours, could be isolated rain showers elsewhere at any time.

A lot of rain still around under continuing swellups over much of the north of Belize, and a few isolated showers in other places. So relatively thin high level cloud over the rest of Belize, but there is also another high level cloud moving up from the south aggravating the weather at present.

Present Condition: Cloudy and plenty of rain as the tropical front moves through the country, especially in the north. Extensive cloud cover and heavy rain in San Pedro. A tropical wave is moving over the area and will keep our weather moist and unstable for the next 24 to 36hrs. A small craft caution is in effect for occasionally gusty winds and locally rough seas near heavy showers and thunderstorms. There is the possibility for flooding to occur over low-lying and flood prone areas, as heavy rainfall is expected over the next 24 to 48 hours.

24hr Forecast: Mostly cloudy to overcast skies. A few showers, isolated thunderstorms and periods of light rain will occur around the country but especially over central and coastal areas this afternoon, increasing tonight. Activity will then linger over northern and central areas by morning and gradually decrease after.

Outlook: Showers and thunderstorms will be generally isolated on Saturday afternoon. Then a few showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop mostly over central areas during Saturday night; with activity becoming isolated on Sunday.

Inclement weather caused by Tropical Wave.

Rain currently affecting most areas of the country with heavier amounts and thunderstorms near the Belize district due to a very active tropical wave.

Remainders:

FLOOD WATCH FOR LOW-LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS OVER THE NEXT 12-18 HOURS. SMALL CRAFT CAUTION FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOCALLY ROUGH SEAS NEAR THUNDERSTORMS.
