The Caribbean Sea
There is one tropical wave in the Atlantic, and none in the Caribbean.
Aided by an upper-level low extending from eastern Cuba to San
Andres Island, convergent trades are triggering scattered showers
and isolated thunderstorms south of Hispaniola and along the coast
of Panama. Moderate trades and seas near 4 ft exit across the S
central basin, while gentle trades and seas at 2 to 3 ft prevail
for the remainder of the basin.
For the forecast, Peter will move north of Puerto Rico and the
Virgin Islands to 20.3N 65.3W this afternoon, then continue north
of the area through mid week, before weakening to a tropical
depression and continuing to south of Bermuda by the end of the
week. As this occurs, trade winds over the south- central
Caribbean will diminish through Thu night.
At 5 a.m. AST, the center of Tropical Storm Rose was located over the eastern Atlantic Ocean about 880 miles (1420 km) west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Rose is moving toward the northwest near 20 mph (31 km/h). A slower northwestward motion is expected during the next couple of days followed by a turn to the north.
...DISORGANIZED PETER PASSING TO THE NORTH OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS...
At 5 a.m. AST, the center of Tropical Storm Peter was located over the Atlantic Ocean about 105 miles (170 km) north-northwest of the northern Leeward Islands. Similar to yesterday, there is air circulating slowly around the Gulf, so the easterly Caribbean winds over Belize, have high level from the NE with a fair bit of moisture, causing isolated rain showers in any part of Belize earlier and still a few around now.
Looks as if today will be mainly sunny but with significant clouds and a chance of the odd rain shower.
