Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
There is one tropical wave in the Atlantic, and one in the Caribbean.
An upper level trough extends from the western Atlantic near
31N75W SSW across the central Bahamas and western Cuba to the
Gulf of Honduras. This is promoting unstable conditions and
supporting convection described above associated with the tropical
wave. Isolated moderate convection is seen south of 11N between
the coast of Colombia and southeast Nicaragua.
Fresh to strong trade winds prevail across most of the central
Caribbean and extend northeastward through the Anegada Passage.
Seas range from 7 feet to 10 feet, as the gradient tightens
between the Bermuda high and the east Pacific Ocean monsoon
trough. Moderate trade winds and seas of 3 to 6 ft prevail west
of the tropical wave.
High pressure just E of Bermuda will gradually slide eastward
through the middle of the week. This pattern will produce fresh to
strong trade winds across the NE and central Caribbean through
Tue night. Fresh to strong trade winds will then persist across
the central Caribbean through Thu. Moderate N to NE swell from Sam
will affect the tropical Atlc waters through Wed night. Winds and
seas will diminish significantly by Fri.

...SAM TRANSITIONS TO A POWERFUL POST-TROPICAL CYCLONE OVER THE FAR NORTH ATLANTIC BETWEEN NEWFOUNDLAND AND ICELAND ...THIS IS THE LAST ADVISORY... At 9 a.m. GMT (5 a.m. AST), the center of now Post-Tropical Cyclone Sam was located over the far northern Atlantic Ocean about 690 miles (1110 km) east-northeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland, and about 1110 miles (1785 km) southwest of Reykjavik, Iceland. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the north near 23 mph (37 km/h), and this general motion should continue today with a further decrease in forward speed. A slow east-northeastward motion is forecast to begin by late today, and a northeastward motion is expected Wednesday and Wednesday night. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center and gale-force winds extend outward up to 460 miles (740 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 970 mb (28.64 inches). Although gradual weakening is forecast to occur during the next few days, Sam is expected to remain a powerful post-tropical cyclone over the north Atlantic today. A large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms continues over the southeastern Bahamas and adjacent southwestern Atlantic waters in association with a surface trough. Upper-level winds are not expected to be favorable for significant tropical development of this system while it moves slowly northwestward over the next several days. By this weekend, the system is forecast to interact with a front near the coast of the southeastern United States. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent. The easterly Caribbean continues, but is very slow down south, where there is some clashing with high level winds from the NNE causing some rain, and there was a band of rain across north Belize but now diminishing. There is strong, heavy high level cloud coming up from the south over Honduras, which may put more moisture into the Caribbean over the next few days. There is also cool air coming down off North America across the Gulf, stopping the Caribbean winds.
Looks as if today again, will be a mixture of sunshine, clouds and the chance of the odd rain shower.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 25°C 77°F Yesterday max. 31°C 88°F Yesterday Rain 1 mm ( 0.04") Over Night Rain 0 mm ( 0" )
