Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

A shear line extends from eastern Cuba to eastern Honduras. Moderate to fresh N to NE winds are west of this line, which is also supporting scattered showers and tstms. This feature will slowly shift westward through Wed, supporting the continuation of showers and fresh NE winds in the NW Caribbean. Farther south, 1009 mb low pressure remains anchored along the monsoon trough near 10N81W, north of western Panama and east Costa Rica. A relatively weak pressure pattern is in place elsewhere, supporting gentle to moderate winds and moderate seas. Other than the showers and thunderstorms near the shear line, only a few showers are noted over the Leeward Islands.

For the forecast, the shear line feature will slowly shift westward through Wed, supporting the continuation of showers and fresh NE winds in the NW Caribbean. Moderate to fresh NE to E winds over the southwest Caribbean will diminish today as a low pressure over the SW Caribbean weakens into a surface trough through mid week. Otherwise, a weak pressure gradient will support mainly gentle to moderate trade winds across the central and E basin through Sat night.

A low pressure system located along the eastern coast of Costa Rica is producing some disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the southwestern Caribbean Sea. This system is expected to move westward over Central America later today, and significant development is unlikely due to its interaction with land. However, this disturbance will still produce locally heavy rainfall across portions of southern Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama through today, which could result in flooding and mudslides. By Wednesday, the system is forecast to move into the far eastern portion of the eastern Pacific basin.

This area of low pressure is expected to move westward and interact with land over Central America, thus limiting any likelihood of development in the Atlantic basin, though it will have to be watched as it moves into the eastern Pacific during the second half of the week.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...near 0 percent.

There is still cool air pushing down from the north, the easterly Caribbean winds have not taken over yet, so there is clashing off the coast and there is sone high level from the SW also clashing, so there is a fair bit of rain out at sea and a few sprinkles on land. Fog or low clod is covering part of central Belize and sunshine elsewhere. there is a strong surface "Tiger" wind from the SW over central Belize at present.

Looks as if it will generally be cool air, a fair bit of sunshine later and clouds developing , could be the odd rain shower.

Present Condition: Partly cloudy. Weather on the way in San Pedro, partly cloudy currently. Relatively moist and unstable conditions prevail over the area. A small craft caution is in effect for occasionally gusty winds and locally rough seas near heavy showers and thunderstorms.

24hr Forecast: Cloudy spells with isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and tomorrow morning, increasing to a few with periods of rain mostly over southern, coastal, and offshore areas this evening and tonight.

Outlook: For Wednesday afternoon to midday on Thursday is for similar weather conditions to prevail.

Southwestern Caribbean: A small area of low pressure located over the far southwestern Caribbean just north of Panama is producing some shower and thunderstorm activity, although most of the convection is occurring south of Panama on the eastern Pacific side. It is expected that this system will head westward and move completely into the eastern Pacific by Wednesday and no development from this system is expected in the southwestern Caribbean.
