Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

A cold front over the western Atlantic crosses the eastern tip of Cuba into the western Caribbean as a stationary front to 12N83W, near the coast of Nicaragua. Scattered tstorms are along the front. A recent ASCAT pass shows fresh N winds behind the front covering the NW Caribbean, except for locally strong N winds off the coast of Honduras, from 15N to 18.5N between 81W-86W. Seas of 6 to 7 ft are occurring in the strong wind area, with 3 to 6 ft seas elsewhere behind the front. Fresh to locally strong trades are also seen off the coast of NE Colombia and NW Venezuela, where seas are 4 to 6 ft. Gentle to moderate trades are noted elsewhere with 2 to 5 ft seas.

For the forecast, moderate to fresh northerly winds follow the Front in the western Caribbean. The front will gradually drift eastward through Tue while dissipating. Fresh to strong north winds will remain within 60 nm of the coast of Nicaragua, in the wake of the front, Mon through Tue. Gentle to moderate trade winds will prevail across the east and central Caribbean through mid-week, except of moderate to fresh trade winds near the coast of Colombia and the Gulf of Venezuela. High pressure builds north of the area and migrates eastward across the western Atlantic strengthening the trade winds across the basin late in the week.

We continue to monitor several tropical entities in the Atlantic basin. Tropical Storm Wanda has become post-tropical Wanda and has weakened considerably. Impacts to Ireland remain likely November 8, 2021 across that country. A tropical wave is tracking west across the South American countries of Suriname, Guyana, Venezuela spreading widespread tropical squalls. Another tropical wave in the central Atlantic Ocean, stationary at the moment, will spread isolated tropical squalls across the Cape Verdes, November 8, 2021.

There is a tropical wave across the Latin American countries of Costa Rica & Panama. This tropical wave will continue to spread abudant tropical showers November 8, 2021.

A non-tropical low pressure system with storm-force winds is located a couple of hundred miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. This system is forecast to move east-northeastward during the next several days, and it could gradually lose its frontal characteristics by the middle of this week over the subtropical Atlantic Ocean.

Elsewhere across the basin, tropical development is not expected in the coming days.

The cold air continues to come down from the north, but Caribbean winds have moved some of the cloud from the sea, to cover most of Belize, most rain is out at sea. The SW high level is still clashing way out at sea and a bit closer to Belize.

Looks as if this morning will be very overcast, but brighting up later this morning probably.

Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler )
Last Night 23°C 73°F Yesterday max. 29°C 83°F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0") Over Night Rain 0 mm ( 0" )
