Overview
This challenge is brought to you by Ernesto Bardalez, Deputy Mayor with the portfolio of Tourism Promotion. We seek to find cutting edge young talent in Tourism on San Pedro Town. There's never been a better time to put your ideas into action and reach for success!

The Challenge
Got a business idea or concept? If you're 18-30 and have a fresh innovative idea for a business in Tourism, or have started one already - then we want to hear from you! Our competition seeks the best young minds from San Pedro Town, young people with vision, social awareness and the ambition to achieve.

Our Grand Prize Winner will receive a $2,000 grant, and a free year Trade License. It's the opportunity to make your mark, get noticed and put your ideas in action.

Challenge criteria
Applications will be judged on three key factors:
1) Viability
a. Can the plan achieve what it states it will do?
b. Does it operate within the budget/resources currently held or will acquire?
c. Is the idea investment ready? How will you use the funding if successful?
2) Innovation
a. Is the idea unique?
b. Does it have a clear unique selling point?
c. Will the idea fill a gap in the tourism sector in San Pedro Town?
3) Sustainability
a. Will the venture meet social or community needs in a new way?
b. Will the venture create jobs?

Deputy Mayor Ernesto Bardalez and the San Pedro Town Council is proud to announce the winner of the Young Entrepreneurs in Tourism Challenge Ms. Xenika Armstrong! Ms. Armstrong received a Grant of $2,000 towards her business and 1 year free trade license for 2022.

Ms. Armstrong creates jewelry from recycled plastic bottles. She also recycles fabrics, plastic bags and other recyclable material to create unique artwear statement pieces. Ms. Armstrong stated, "The concept of my business reflects on plastic pollution that is affecting our beautiful sea & our environment. I believe in repurposing, reusing & value.".

We congratulate Ms. Armstrong and we wish her the best in her business venture!
