The Caribbean Sea

High pressure is building across the eastern seaboard of the United States. The pressure gradient between this area of building high pressure and climatological low pressure over Colombia is supporting fresh to strong trades over the central Caribbean, and in the lee of Cuba. Gentle to moderate winds prevail elsewhere. Seas are in the 5-7 ft range over the central Caribbean and 3-5 ft elsewhere.

For the forecast, fresh to strong trades will prevail over the south- central Caribbean through the week. Moderate to fresh trades will prevail elsewhere. High pressure will build over the western Atlantic through the forecast period. This will result in fresh to locally strong northeast winds and building seas in the Windward Passage, the lee of Cuba, and south of Hispaniola through the week.

Great photo of the sunrise Elbert!

Looks as if the easterly Caribbean winds have pushed back that cool air from the north, and again in full control, but there is air coming off the Honduras mountains, causing rain, presently out at sea.

Looks as if today will be mainly sunny, with clouds developing after the low cloud in central areas has lifted.

Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler )
Last Night 23°C 74°F Yesterday max. 29°C 85°F Yesterday Rain 4.4 mm ( 0.2") Over Night Rain 3.0 mm ( 0.1" )

Many rain showers around. Not only is there warm air coming up from the south, but there is some hidden air not showing up but causing the easterly Caribbean air to produce a lot of rain showsers.

Some scattered rains could be presented on the peninsula due to a trough and warm, humid air.
