Belize Weather Forecast: December 19, 2021

General Situation:
Ambergris Caye: Conditions this morning by Elbert just before or after this post!
Belize NMS: Present Condition: Mostly clear in the north, partly cloudy in the south. Mostly clear in San Pedro. Easterly airflow prevailing.
Advisories: None.
24-hour forecast: Mostly sunny skies today and partly cloudy tonight. Showers will be isolated, along with the chance of isolated inland afternoon thunderstorms.
Winds: E-SE, 5-15 kts

Outlook: For Monday and Monday night is for cloudy spells with a few morning coastal showers, then becoming isolated.
Sargassum Forecast from December 15 to December 22: Sargassum amounts are expected to remain low and as a result no major impacts are expected along our beaches during the next few days. San Pedro has a low probability and a minimal impact.

The Caribbean Sea

The pressure gradient between high pressure centered southeast of Bermuda and lower pressure over Colombia continues to support fresh to strong winds over much of the central Caribbean, with highest winds being observed just S of Hispaniola and just N of Colombia. Moderate to fresh winds prevail over the eastern Caribbean, with gentle to moderate winds over the western parts of the basin. Seas in the central basin where winds are highest range from 8 to 10 ft, with 5 to 7 ft seas in the east and 3 to 5 ft seas in the west.

With the strong trades and relatively dry air in place over the Caribbean, the only significant convection is along and S of 9N in the far SW basin, in association with the eastward extension of the Eastern Pacific monsoon trough.

High pressure building south through the Atlantic will support fresh to strong trades over the central Caribbean through tonight. The high will then push east Mon, allowing winds to diminish. Large N to NE swell will continue in the tropical N Atlantic as well as Mona and Anegada Passages through Mon night. Looking ahead, a cold front will move through the Yucatan Channel late Tue and may reach Honduras and Nicaragua by Thu.

Marty OP	The cloud making activity over Honduras has now moved down to Panama. There is a little trace of new high level winds from the NNW that might have contributed to the move south. The easterly Caribbean winds are predominating the area, but I am getting a hint, that there is a cold front starting to push down over the Gulf where there is a lot of cloud. Looks as if today will be sunny, but with clouds already forming early, little or no rain expected. Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 22°C 74°F Yesterday max. 27°C 84°F Yesterday Rain 1 mm ( 0.04") Over Night Rain 0 mm ( 0" )

Marty OP	The developing clouds have developed more than I was expecting and causing a very few rain showers. Present Condition: Mostly clear skies, clear in San Pedro. Generally fair weather will prevail with a slight increase in moisture expected on Tuesday, as a cold front approaches. 24hr Forecast: Sunny with some cloudy spells and generally isolated showers during the daytime along with the chance for isolated afternoon thunderstorms inland. Then a few showers will develop along the coast late tonight decreasing by morning. Outlook: Generally fair conditions with isolated showers Monday afternoon and night. Then showers will gradually increase along with isolated thunderstorms on Tuesday. Cold front #Huchim (not. 14) already located over the Gulf of Mexico. Its induced trough will be generating showers and some thunderstorms on the Peninsula over the next few hours.
