Sargassum Forecast from December 21 to December 29:
Satellite pictures suggest that sargassum has increased slightly over the northwest Caribbean Sea during the past week but steering currents are expected to keep most of these mats offshore during the next few days. San Pedro has a medium probability and a minimal impact.

The 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season has ended, warnings will resume on May 15, 2022.

The Caribbean Sea
1021 mb high pressure centered north of the area north of Puerto
Rico is supporting fresh to strong trade winds across the central
Caribbean and Gulf of Honduras, with 5 to 7 ft seas, possibly
reaching 8 ft off Colombia. Elsewhere, moderate E to SE winds and
3 to 5 ft are observed. No significant shower or thunderstorm
activity is evident at this time.
For the forecast, the high pressure north of Puerto Rico will
strengthen through Thu and continue to support fresh to strong
trade winds across mainly the central Caribbean through Sat, with
minimal gale force winds off Colombia Thu night. The high
pressure will weaken over the weekend allowing for the fresh to
strong trades to diminish in coverage.
On Ambergris Caye this morning it's windy and the sea around our barrier reef is rough. The East wind is blowing at 22 mph. Today's expected high temperature is 87f.
The Caribbean winds are strong, from the SE, not much cloud near Belize, some overnight fog patches and a few small clouds.
Clouds will develop this morning, but mainly sunny most of the day, no rain expected.

Outlook: For Thursday afternoon through to midday on Friday is for fair and mostly dry weather to prevail. Possible strong "north" for early 2022.

River Conditions
REGION 7 - On the RIO HONDO levels are normal and steady. On the NEW RIVER, levels at both Tower Hill and at Caledonia, levels are normal and shows a minimal increase.
REGION 9 - On the MACAL RIVER, reservoir levels at all BECOL facilities remain below the spillways; and at San Ignacio, levels remain below the low-level bridge and steady.
The MOPAN RIVER at Benque Viejo Town is approaching Bank full stage.
On the BELIZE RIVER at Double Run, levels are below normal with minimal increase; and on the CROOKED TREE LAGOON, lagoon levels are below the causeway and steady.
REGION 11 - On the SIBUN RIVER at Freetown Sibun, below normal and falling levels exist. The SOUTHERN LAGOON at Gales Point Village is normal and showing minimal increase.
In watersheds on the EASTERN SLOPES OF THE MAYAN MOUNTAINS, and on the SITTEE RIVER at Kendal Bridge, levels are above normal and steady.
On the Swasey and Bladen branches of the MONKEY RIVER, levels are near normal and shows a minimal rise. The DEEP RIVER at Medina Bank is above normal and increasing. The RIO GRANDE at San Pedro Columbia is below normal and decreasing; at Big Falls South is above normal and steady.
The MOHO RIVER and the TEMASH RIVER are above normal and steady.
REGION 13 - The SARSTOON RIVER is above normal and slowly decreasing.
FLOOD FORECAST
REGION 7 - On the RIO HONDO at Blue Creek North, and downstream at Santa Cruz, San Antonio, San Roman, and Douglas to the Coast; and on the NEW RIVER at Tower Hill and at Caledonia, no significant change expected.
REGION 9 - On the MACAL RIVER, at all BECOL facilities, reservoir levels are expected to remain below the spillway; and at San Ignacio, levels are expected to remain below the Low-level Bridge.
