The Caribbean Sea
Tight gradient between a 1020 mb high near 25N69W and lower
pressures near the Panama-Colombia border is maintaining a fresh
ENE to E trade-wind pattern across the entire basin. Fresh to
strong trades and seas of 8 to 10 ft are found over the S central
basin, N of Colombia. Moderate with locally fresh trades and seas
at 5 to 6 ft are present for the E and NW basin. Moderate to fresh
trades with seas at 6 to 8 ft prevail for the remainder of the
basin.
For the forecast, high pressure centered N of Hispaniola is
forecast to remain nearly-stationary through Sun, supporting
moderate to fresh trade winds across the Caribbean, except for
locally strong winds in the Gulf of Honduras, central Caribbean
and portions of the SW basin. The tail of a cold front will enter
the far NW Caribbean Mon morning supporting moderate to locally
fresh NE winds and building seas in the Yucatan channel. The front
will stall from W Cuba to Belize by Mon night before dissipating
early Tue. Winds will diminish to moderate speeds over the NW and
E Caribbean on Tue.
On Ambergris Caye this morning we have a 20 mph wind from the East creating rough sea conditions around our barrier reef. Today's expected high temperature is 86 f.
That Caribbean cloud of yesterday has now come over Belize and causing a fair amount of cloud over most of the country. It does not look like rain clouds, but a few patches might get heavy enough for a little rain in parts of the south.
Looks as if today will be rather cloudy, but with some sunshine as well, could be the odd patch of rain any where, but not much.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 23°C 74°F Yesterday max. 30°C 86°F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0") Over Night Rain 0.1 mm ( 0" )
Present Condition: Mostly sunny on the mainland, a few scattered clouds. Sunny skies in San Pedro. Mainly fair weather will continue for another day or so. Small craft caution for occasionally gusty winds and locally rough seas.
24hr Forecast: Mostly sunny during the daytime and partly cloudy tonight. Showers if any, will be light and isolated.
Outlook: (Sun afternoon - Midday mon) Mainly fair Sunday afternoon with isolated showers. Skies will become cloudy sunday night with a few showers and periods of light rain over most areas, along with isolated thunderstorms, late sunday night and Monday morning.
