The Caribbean Sea

There are gales ongoing off the coast of Colombia.

Elsewhere across the basin, dry mainly moderate to fresh ENE trades is leading to convection-free conditions. Seas are 5 to 7 ft, except 2 to 4 ft in the NW Caribbean.

For the forecast, tight pressure gradient between high pressure in the western Atlantic and the Colombian low will support strong to gale conditions offshore Colombia through tonight, with fresh to strong winds elsewhere in the south-central Caribbean into early next week. Generally moderate to fresh trades will prevail elsewhere. A weak cold front will enter the far NW Caribbean tonight, reach from Cuba to the Gulf of Honduras Sun, then dissipate by Mon.

There are regular easterly Caribbean cloud patches coming in, and a lot of high-level cloud around, with high-level winds from the west and there is a trace of cold air moving down from the Gulf, all adding to a lot of cloud at different levels and patches of rain in many places.

Looks as if today will be mainly cloudy, some patches of sunshine occasionally and a high chance of the odd rain shower.

Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler )
Last Night 23°C 73°F Yesterday max. 28°C 82°F Yesterday Rain 14.5mm ( 0.6") Over Night Rain 1.4mm ( 0.1" )

Looks as if a front part of the cold front has already crossed over Belize and now out in the sea, but at the same time easterly Caribbean winds and clouds, still coming in over Belize. The cool air is pushing in under the Caribbean air. The surface wind in Belmopan is from the WSW
