The Caribbean Sea

Strong winds continue within 90 nm of the Colombian coast, due to the tight gradient between high pressure north of the basin and a 1007 mb low over northern Colombia, N of Bogota. Seas are building in the area of strong winds, currently at 8 ft. No other significant surface features are noted across the basin, and no significant convection is occurring. Moderate to fresh trades are noted elsewhere. Away from the higher seas near Colombia, seas are 4 to 6 ft in the central Caribbean and 3 to 5 ft elsewhere.

For the forecast, the pressure gradient between high pressure in the central Atlantic and lower pressure over northern Colombian will support fresh to strong winds in the south-central Caribbean through Fri night. Generally gentle to moderate trades will prevail elsewhere. A cold front is likely to approach the NW Caribbean Thu night, then dissipate by the weekend.

Meteorological models and satellite images show the low pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico. This low pressure system could cause rain and wind gusts near the border between Mexico and the United States, apparently it will move later near to Florida, where some rain or clouds might be possible.

The birth of a new cold front is expected which could affect parts of Mexico, USA, Central America and the Caribbean.

The cool air from the NW is now coming into Belize, under the SE Caribbean winds. No rain on the radar.
