Hol Chan in collaboration with the Fisheries Department - Belize, Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association, The Nature Conservancy, and Mesoamerican Reef Fund -MAR Fund- would like to announce the open call for applicants to the Rapid Response and Emergency Reef Restoration Course to be held in San Pedro Town from May 17-20, 2022.

This course is open for advanced-level divers with pertinent diving certifications. It will provide 15 selected persons with in-depth knowledge and skills to respond to impacts caused to our reef system from tropical storms and hurricanes. These divers will become trained First Responders, who will be called upon to mitigate the damage to the reef caused by a natural disaster such as a hurricane. Persons interested should keep in mind that the purpose of the training is to have persons that will be in a position to respond immediately after a storm event to restore, as much as possible, any damage caused to the reef.
