The Caribbean Sea
There are
pulsing gale conditions offshore Colombia. Mainly fresh to strong winds dominate the eastern and central
Caribbean, as well as the Windward Passage as a result of the
tight pressure gradient induced by the strong high pressure north
of the area and lower pressure over Colombia. Seas east of 80W,
including within the Windward Passage, range from 6 to 9 ft. The
exception is south of 15N to the coast of Colombia, seas are 8 to
13 ft. Fresh winds and 4 to 7 ft seas are noted in the NW
Caribbean, except fresh to strong in the immediate Lee of Cuba
early this morning.
For the forecast, winds will pulse to gale force off Colombia
each night through Mon night, while strong winds will expand in
areal coverage across the central and eastern Caribbean Sea
through today. Fresh to strong NE winds will funnel through the
Windward Passage through Mon night. Fresh to strong NE winds in
the lee of Cuba will diminish through sunrise today. Otherwise,
fresh to strong trade winds and building seas will prevail over
the tropical north Atlantic waters east of the Lesser Antilles
through today.
On Ambergris Caye this morning it's sunny and warm again with an Easterly wind at 14 mph. The expected high temperature for the day is predicted to be 85 f.
The easterly Caribbean winds firmly in control again, but here is some cloud around and causing a few odd rain shower areas.
Looks as if today will be mainly sunny, but with some significant clouds and a chance of rain showers.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 20 °C 69 °F Yesterday max. 28 °C 82 °F Yesterday Rain 1.5 mm ( 0.1 ") Over Night Rain 1.2 mm ( 0.1 " )
Present Condition: Partly cloudy, less so in the west and northwest. Cloudy in San Pedro right now. A moderate east to southeasterly airflow prevails.
24hr Forecast: Cloudy spells with a few showers mainly over northern areas this afternoon and tomorrow morning. Elsewhere showers will be isolated.
Outlook: Showers will be isolated Friday afternoon then a few showers will develop mainly over the south Friday night and especially along northern and central coastal areas Saturday morning.
