Belize NMS: Present Condition: Mostly cloudy throughout the mainland this morning, partly cloudy in San Pedro. Light east-northeast airflow will become less moist later today.

24-hour forecast: Cloudy at times today with a few light showers over some coastal areas this morning, then mostly over central and southern portions of the mainland this afternoon. Partly cloudy tonight with only isolated showers.

Outlook: (Fri & Fri night) Mainly fair with little or no rain.
Sargassum Forecast from March 1 to March 9: There is only a small chance that a few sargassum mats could drift ashore during the next few days. San Pedro has a low probability with a minimal impact.

The Caribbean Sea

A recent scatterometer satellite pass depicted fresh to strong winds continuing off of Colombia in the south-central Caribbean. Seas range between 8 to 9 ft with these winds. Gentle to moderate trade winds prevail across the rest of the eastern and central Caribbean. Gentle to moderate northerly winds are noted in the NW basin. Seas are 3 to 5 ft in the eastern Caribbean, 4 to 7 ft in the central basin, and 3 ft or less in the NW basin.

For the forecast, building high pressure over the western Atlantic will maintain fresh to strong northeast to east trade winds through Fri night, then expand in coverage over the central Caribbean into next week. Moderate to fresh trades along with persistent northeast to east swell will continue to impact the waters east of the Lesser Antilles for the next several days.
