The Caribbean Sea

The gradient associated with central Atlantic high pressure is supporting generally moderate to fresh trades across the basin. Wave heights are in the range of 5-7 ft east of 78W, and 3-5 ft west of 78W.

Patches of low-level moisture embedded within the trade wind flow are noted east of 74W. Isolated to scattered showers are possible with these moisture patches.

As for the forecast, the Atlantic high pressure will support the moderate to fresh trades through Sun night. The trades then increase to fresh to strong speeds over the eastern and central Caribbean late Sun night through Wed night. A cold front will move across the Yucatan Channel into the NW Caribbean by early this evening, bringing fresh to strong northerly winds and building wave heights to the area. Otherwise, fresh to locally strong trades and NE to E swell will continue to impact the waters east of the Lesser Antilles well into next week.

On Ambergris Caye this morning we have a rough sea state around our barrier reef.
The wind has gone down to 12 mph but the high waves are slow to follow.

Yesterday, I said our weather was changing and probably no more cold fronts.. . Well that cold area that has been hanging around in the north Gulf for several days, deflecting the Caribbean winds, has actually made it over Belize this morning. high level thick cloud is pushing the cold air ahead of it right over Belize and out into the Caribbean.

Looks as if the northern cloudy areas may well get more cloud and cooler than yesterday, but southern sunny areas get some cloud during the day, if not they will get very warm from the high sun, no rain expected, but could be tonight or tomorrow. No rain on the Radar.

Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler )
Last Night 23 °C 73 °F Yesterday max. 32 °C 89 °F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0 ") Over Night Rain 0 mm ( 0 " )
