The Belize Airports Authority is pleased to inform that visual aids are being installed at the Sir Barry Bowen Municipal Airport, John Grief II Airport, Caye Caulker Airport and the Placencia Municipal Airport; in order to compliment the runway lighting systems.
The enhancement comes by the installation of airport rotating beacons, which meet the recommendations of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The BAA follows the guidance of BCAR'S at their 14 aerodromes.
The beacons are being placed at strategic locations at the airports where the equipment will not be shielded by objects and will not dazzle pilots approaching land.
