The Caribbean Sea
Enhanced by a mid-level low just south of the Yucatan Channel,
convergent trade winds are triggering scattered showers and
isolated thunderstorms over portions of the NW Caribbean, with
moisture and activity propagating from Honduras and Nicaragua
northeastward toward Cuba, Jamaica and Hispaniola. Isolated to
scattered showers are seen farther east, over Puerto Rico and the
Leeward Islands. Fresh to strong NE-E trades along with 5 to 7 ft
seas are occurring near the Windward Passage, as well as south of
Hispaniola. Gentle to moderate easterly trades and seas of 2 to 4
ft are noted over the SW basin. Moderate to fresh easterly trades
and seas of 3 to 6 ft are present across the remainder of the
basin.
For the forecast, high pressure located north of the Caribbean
Sea will support pulsing fresh to locally strong NE to E winds in
the lee of Cuba, Windward Passage, and south of Hispaniola over
the next several days. Otherwise, moderate to locally fresh
easterly winds will prevail through next week, except gentle winds
in the SW Caribbean. Northerly swell may move into the Tropical N
Atlantic waters by the middle of next week.
The regular easterly Caribbean winds are back, the high level SW winds causing all the rain are now way out in the Caribbean, but there are still a few rain showers around.
Looks as if today will be mainly sunny, but with a lot of cloud around during the morning, thinning this afternoon.
Last Night 24 °C 75 °F Yesterday max. 29 °C 84 °F Yesterday Rain 35 mm ( 1.4 ") Over Night Rain 0.1 mm ( 0 " )
