AKA thimble jelly fish.. Sometimes they sting, Sometimes not but for us, usually just itchy for a day. I'm sure people have varying reactions.

These thimbles usually come in conjunction with the pica pica which is tiny and looks like splinters of wood. The thimbles don't always sting but the pica pica can cause discomfort with stinging and itching with effects worsening upon multiple exposures. Most people can avoid pica by identifying the blooms - but usually they are suspended between the surface and 15ft so tough to avoid. You can use sunscreen coverage to create a barrier to avoid pica pica issues too.
