The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), in the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Management, supported by the National Meteorological Service and in collaboration with US Southern Command Joint Task Force-Bravo, will be conducting SIMULATION STORM GUARDS I starting Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. to Thursday, April 28, 2022.
The simulation is an orientation talk through walk-through exercise to bring together NEMO's primary operational personnel. It is designed for the government line ministries, NEMO National Committee chairpersons and their deputies, the NEMO Department Headquarters staff, NEMO coordinators, and partners.
The aim of the simulation is to increase the state of readiness for NEMO by improving coordination and communication between the government, private sector, partners, and civil society based on their plan of action. The main objectives include increasing organization and preparedness at national and district level; improving coordination and communication at all levels; developing standard operating procedures checklist for emergency operation centers to respond to and recover from hazards and orient the new committee chairpersons and their staff so they can develop an understanding to improve their knowledge of their disaster risk management roles and responsibilities.
NEMO advisories that will be sent via the media will be annotated at the top and bottom of the page with the following text: "THIS MESSAGE IS NOT REAL THIS IS JUST A TEST." This is to prevent any alarm among the public
The simulation is one of the key preparedness activities NEMO has designed to better prepare the country for the fast-approaching 2022 hurricane, flood, and emergency season.
