Belize NMS: Present Condition: Mostly clear this morning except along the western border and in the deep south, partly cloudy in San Pedro, should clear early. Seasonally hot and dry weather prevails.
Advisories: HEAT ALERT: Residents, especially those living inland, are advised to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during the daytime as much as possible.
24-hour forecast: Mostly sunny today and clear to partly cloudy tonight. Except for the chance of an isolated thunderstorm developing near the western border over the mountains, little or no rain is expected.

Outlook: For Tuesday and Tuesday night is for continuing warm and mostly dry weather.
Sargassum Forecast from May 3 to May 11: Satellite and surface observations continue to show more sargassum heading our way. San Pedro has a high probability with a major impact.

Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

The pressure gradient between high pressure ridging over the northern Caribbean and lower pressure over the Colombian Basin is maintaining moderate to fresh trades across most of the Caribbean, except in the far SW Caribbean S of 11N and in the lee of Cuba, where gentle winds prevail. Seas average 3 to 6 ft, except 2 to 4 ft where the gentle winds are occurring. No significant convection is noted at this time.

For the forecast, a surface ridge stretches southwestward from the central Atlantic to Hispaniola, then westward across Cuba to the Yucatan Peninsula. This feature will maintain moderate to fresh trades across the entire basin into tonight. Winds may pulse to fresh to strong in the south-central Caribbean Wed night.
