In the middle of last week, coming up on payday - NICH was plunged into a crisis - when the accounting clerk - and the only staffer left in that department just up and quit - reportedly deleting many critical files and causing administrative chaos on the cusp of payday.

Yesterday we asked a board member about this action, and what may have prompted it:

Jules Vasquez
"NICH went through some really difficulties I'm told Thursday and Friday of last week which were paydays, the auditor just up and quit and I am told that all the payroll files, all the passwords, everything was gone, deleted. Has NICH been able to recover from this very administratively traumatic situation?"

Albert Vaughan, Councillor
"Yes, I am a board member and again information is coming in, all is not coming in, we have not completed yet. My information, I understand that things are getting back to normal."

Jules Vasquez
"However, in all my professional experience I've never seen someone holding a professional post just up and quit and leave so much chaos in his/her wake. When someone does something like that, it suggests to me they have been triggered to the limit of human endurance. Was Mr. Edwin mistreated or denied fair treatment that perhaps drove him to such a drastic act?"

Albert Vaughan, Councillor
"I don't know, Jules. You're really putting me on the spot. As board member that information will come to us. We don't have everything yet and so it's not fair for me to comment on that. I really can't go that way. The fact remains that if the gentleman what you said he did, then something must have gone wrong and I think we could look at it and make sure in the future that things like that don't happen."

Minister of Culture Francis Fonseca told us "the accounting clerk did resign abruptly creating some challenges but the administrative team worked…to get the payroll uploaded so the matter (was) resolved.
