Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
There is a gale warning in the Gulf of Mexico.
In addition to winds to gale force, recent scatterometer satellite
information indicated a broad band of fresh to strong SE winds
reaching from the south-central Gulf to parts of the northwest
Gulf. In addition to the estimated 11 to 13 ft seas near the line
of thunderstorms in the central Gulf, seas 7 to 9 ft may be
possible elsewhere in the area of fresh to strong winds based
reports from buoys to 7 ft just outside the main area of winds.
Moderate to fresh SE winds with 4 to 6 ft seas are noted
elsewhere. Several platforms over the northwest Gulf have been
reporting visibility limitations due to haze. This may be due to
smoke from agricultural fires over southern Mexico impacting the
visibility over much of the western Gulf.
For the forecast, the thunderstorm activity will diminish later
this morning or early afternoon. Winds and seas across the central
Gulf will diminish into Mon as the low pressure farther south
weakens, except for pulses off fresh to strong winds off the north
coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, mainly at night. Looking ahead, a
ridge will build from westward from the western Atlantic across
the northern Gulf through mid- week. The associated gradient
between the ridge and low pressure with a cold front west of the
area will support fresh southeast return flow over the western
Gulf Tue through late Wed. The cold front is expected to move into
the western Gulf on Thu followed by gentle to moderate north to
northeast winds.

Despite the no rain weather forecasts, we are now getting into the ITCZ rainy season type of weather. There has been a lot of ITCZ swellups over Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador and other central areas. . .. It is just a matter of time before we find our selves in it. To further complicate things, there is weather activity again coming rapidly down from North America, across the Gulf, with one advanced line of thin cloud, rapidly approaching Belize. Despite all this activity, there is no rain around, there was some last night in Guatamala and Honduras, and off shore early this morning.
Despite all this action over and around the Yucatan, our weather will be similar to yesterday, sun and cloud and probably no rain. No rain on the radar.
Last Night 27 °C 81 °F Yesterday max. 35 °C 95 °F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0 " ) Over Night Rain 0 mm ( 0 " )
