Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
The main drivers impacting Caribbean weather continue to be a
strong subtropical ridge north of the area and lower pressure over
the eastern Pacific and southern Mexico. Scatterometer satellite
passes from the past several hours show fresh to strong E winds
off northwest Venezuela and northeast Colombia, as well as a large
area of fresh E winds over the northwest Caribbean. Concurrent
ship observations and an altimeter satellite pass confirmed 8 to
10 ft seas were still present over the central Caribbean. Buoy
observations indicate 4 to 6 ft seas elsewhere. This pattern shows
there is a subtle weakening trend in place with the areal extent
of the strong winds and rough seas decreasing from earlier. This
is indicative of a weaker pressure pattern setting up, to include
a weaker ridge to the north and rising pressure over Central
America. Nonetheless, there is still enough low level moisture
and convergence to support clusters of heavy rainfall across much
of the Northern Triangle areas of Central America and into
southern Mexico. Please refer to bulletins and forecasts that are
issued by your local or national meteorological agency for more
information concerning rainfall in these areas.
For the forecast, winds and seas will diminish some today and
tonight, then more on Tue as the gradient weakens. Fresh to
strong east to southeast winds will continue to pulse over the
Gulf of Honduras and off Colombia through the latter part of the
week.

As you can see, we are presently well within this ITCZ activity area this morning, that I was mentioning yesterday. It has now moved from the Caribbean sea to over Belize over night. There was a very significant ITCZ swellup that threw a front, rapidly over Belize and into the Yucatan during the early hours and cause a narrow band of heavy rain. Now the main body is over us. At the same time, that air from the north, is still pushing down over Guatamala towards southern Belize and aggravating the situation. So now we have a lot of rain in the south, some in central parts and out at sea.
I measured 25mm ( 1" ) of rain over night. But to call this the start of the rainy season, we need over 30mm ( 1¼") Rain in a Week, and 5 of the rest of the week are significant rain days.
Today will remain cloudy for almost everywhere, some thick cloud and some heavy rain for the south much of this morning and more isolated rain for central and northern areas, but some could be heavy.
Last Night 26 °C 79 °F Yesterday max. 34 °C 93 °F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0 " ) Over Night Rain 25 mm ( 1.0 " )

Stormy weather on La Isla. Current temp is 81degrees with a 40% chance of very welcomed rain! The rain areas are changing. . . The heavy southern rains have been pushed back from the mountains, and reducing in Toledo. The out at sea heavy rain is now moving northwards, not likely to come on land. The fragmented areas of rain in central areas, still heavy over Belize city, are now moving up into northern areas. Present Condition: There is cloud cover over the whole country, including in San Pedro where it is very windy. Moist east to southeasterly airflow prevailing. 24hr Forecast: Cloudy skies today and tonight. Light showers and periods of rain, with the chance of isolated thunderstorms will continue to develop mainly along coastal areas and offshore this afternoon. Showers will become isolated by late evening and then redevelop later tonight and tomorrow morning, affecting mainly coastal areas. Outlook: For Tuesday afternoon is for cloudy spells with a few showers and the chance of isolated thunderstorms developing mainly over northern areas, elsewhere showers will be isolated thru to Wednesday day midday. ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/dailywx220523b.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/dailywxB220523.jpg) Sahara Dust hasarrived on the Yucatan Peninsula. It'll stay a few more days, generating foggy skies, orange-colored sunrises and sunsets. Should slow down in half a week. ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/283697150_3286366968311365_6686621480728802174_n.jpg)
