Our youths are the future!! Today Hol Chan Marine Reserve hosted its Reeffest Environmental Innovation Challenge. Students identified an environmental problem and proposed a solution to a panel of judges. First place ($1000 & Hol Chan merch) was awarded to Team 4x Smart: Damaris Pech, Stacy Campos and their other two team members with their project on Solid & liquid waste in Belizean Waters. Second Place ($700 & Hol Chan merch) was awarded to Team Sea Turtles: Annelyse Perdue, Krystal Navarrette, Karen Perez and Gillian Gonzalez with their project on Recycling plastics into clothing. We would like to thank our Judges: Mrs. Amanda Burgos, Principal of Ambergris Caye Elementary School, Mr. Roberto Canul, Tour Operator of Ambergris Divers and Ms. Brittney Garbutt, Marine biologist of Hol Chan Marine Reserve.
