Mayor Robert Mariano and Town Administrator @Francis Flores celebrated at the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Dangriga fire station funded through the U.S. Humanitarian Assistance Program.
A State-of-the-art fire station to be constructed in Dangriga Town was commenced with the official groundbreaking ceremony by the Belize Fire Service and the Ministry, though collaboration with the US Embassy of Belize.
As funded by the United States Government through the Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) Humanitarian Assistance Program, the building of this fire station will serve as a centralized location for emergency service providers to dispatch support to the more than 9,000 residents of Dangriga and surrounding communities. Present at the event was U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Leyla Moses-Ones, Minister of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Management Hon. Orlando Habet, Dangriga Area Representative Hon. Dr. Louis Zabaneh, Dangriga Mayor Robert Mariano, and Fire Chief Colin Gillett.
The Ministry extends its sincerest gratitude to the United States Government in the commencement of what will not only break barriers to aid the Belizean people in the southern part of Belize and culture capital, Dangriga, but strengthen cooperation between Belize and the US. A much needed initiative for Disaster Risk Management, the district of Stann Creek, and Belize - now on its way.
