We took you to the Mameyal Curve at mile 59 on the Philip Goldson Highway two months ago. That's where the government and the Vice President of the Caribbean Development Bank broke ground in connection with construction works for that stretch of road where many fatal traffic accidents have happened over the years.

The Mameyal Curve is being upgraded as part of the Philip Goldson Highway and Remate Bypass Upgrading Project. The construction is well underway, and the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing says that all the work is forcing a partial closure of the Belize Sugar Industries Intersection.

In a press release from today, the Ministry says that heavy goods vehicles that are exiting and entering Chan Pine Ridge to and from Orange Walk Town will have to divert. They will have to access Chan Pine Ridge Road via the Come and Go Gas Station.

The closure will come into effect on Thursday, July 14, 2022, and is expected to remain in effect for approximately five weeks.
