The Caribbean Sea

The Bermuda-Azores High located N of the area combined with lower pressure in the region between Colombia and Panama continue to support fresh to strong winds and seas to 8 ft in the south-central and portions of the SW Caribbean, and fresh trade winds elsewhere except the NW basin where mainly moderate easterlies are observed. A tropical wave moving across the central Caribbean, interacting with the monsoon trough, supports numerous heavy showers and tstms in the offshore waters between Colombia and Panama. A second tropical wave moving across Central America support scattered heavy showers and tstms across the Nicaragua and Honduras offshore waters.

For the forecast, high pressure N of the area extending to the northern Caribbean will continue to fresh to strong winds and moderate seas in the central and portions of the SW Caribbean through Sat night. Moderate to fresh trade winds are expected across the region the remaining forecast period. Otherwise, fresh to strong NE winds are forecast in the Windward Passage Sat night.

We detect a slight but trending shift of this potential track further north. Thus, all people/friends in the Caribbean Lesser Antilles should monitor the potential of tropical development next week, July 24-31, 2022. The next name is Danielle.

Yesterday evening a fast front went over the Yucatan, again this morning another more broken front has moved over Belize. Not clear if this is like a wall of Caribbean surface wind, or an area of lower high level winds. Which ever, it has resulted in clashing in many areas, causing many areas of rain and heavy cloud areas.

Looks as if this morning will remain cloudy and continue some rain patches, perhaps clearing up by this afternoon.

Last Night 24 °C 76 °F Yesterday max. 33 °C 91 °F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0 " ) Over Night Rain 9.0 mm ( 0.4

The views of San Pedro today started with a Halo around the Sun, indicating a change of weather, more likely rain. By the afternoon, thunder rumbled and the rain came along. After sundown, a touch of blush painted the gloomy evening sky. Photos by Marlena Gomez
