The latest report issued by the National Hurricane Center at 5 a.m. today indicates that Fiona will impact the Eastern Dominican Republic with the category hurricane early Monday. Hurricane warnings will be issued for parts of the Dominican Republic later.

Elsewhere, the National Hurricane Center is making note of a non-tropical disturbance off the coast of the U.S. and a disorganized tropical disturbance in the central Atlantic. Both have a slight chance of developing as they move into the open ocean. Neither is a threat to land.

The easterly Caribbean winds are clashing a fair amount with the mid-high level winds from the NW. This cause a lot of rain down south earlier but that activity has now moved up north and presently in central and north areas, but reducing.

Looks as if today will be largely cloudy, and rain patches in central and particularly north areas, some sunshine sometimes.
