Belize NMS: Present Condition: Mostly clear on the mainland, a few light clouds in the Chiquibul area. Mostly clear in San Pedro. Mainly fair conditions will prevail over the next 24-36 hours, then moisture and instability will begin to increase over the area as the tropical disturbance moves closer.
Advisories: None.
24-hour forecast: Mostly sunny today and partly cloudy tonight. Little or no rainfall is expected.
Winds: NE, 0-10 kts
Sea State: Slight
Waves: 1-3 ft
Sea Surface Temperature (°f): 85
Outlook: For Tuesday and Tuesday night is for mostly fair weather with only isolated showers or isolated thunderstorms at night, increasing late.

Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

Potential Tropical Cyclone Fifteen is in the Central Caribbean Sea. Winds over 20 kt and seas over 8 ft associated with Fifteen are currently in the area of 14N to 19N between 73W and 78W.

A surface trough extends NE-SW through PTC Fifteen. Convergent winds near the trough axis are triggering scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms near the NE coast of Nicaragua, and along the southern coast of Hispaniola. Farther south, convergent trades are producing scattered moderate convection to the north of Venezuela, from 11N-14N between 64W-69W, including over portions of the ABC Islands.

Outside the influence of PTC Fifteen, gentle to moderate NE to E trades and seas of 2 to 4 ft are present over the northwestern portion of the basin, while moderate E trades and seas of 3-4 ft are occurring in the E Caribbean.

For the forecast, Potential Tropical Cyclone Fifteen will move to near 16.1N 77.5W this afternoon while becoming a tropical storm, to near 16.8N 82.2W Tue afternoon, strengthen to a hurricane near 17.4N 86.8W Wed afternoon, before moving inland into Central America late Wed night. Otherwise, with the exception of light to gentle variable winds in the SW basin, moderate to locally fresh winds are forecast elsewhere through Thu.

The formation of a new tropical cyclone in the Caribbean is almost a fact. We could have Tropical Storm Lisa soon. As you can see there is a broad as of uncertainty for this system right now over Central America. As the system approaches this area we will know more precisely the possibility of impact. Heads up Yucatan Peninsula, Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, Jamaica and Cayman Islands.

Presently both the high level winds and the Caribbean winds are from the NE. And it is this combination of winds, also working on the ITCZ cloud and rain activity just south of Jamaica, that has started the ITCZ activity to rotate and now has developed into TROPICAL STORM LISA and moving directly towards Belize. [ See the weather report below ]

It looks as if today will be mainly sunny, with white clouds developing and a small chance of the odd rain showers.

Last Night 24 °C 75 °F Yesterday max. 30 °C 86 °F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0 " ) Over Night Rain 0.1 mm ( 0.02 " )
Humidity 75 % Pressure 1004 mBar
